Earlier Vishal was an action hero but after Avan Ivan things have changed for him. When asked Vishal about this, he said, “To tell you the truth, I am blank. There is nothing in my mind. I don’t have the idea to do what kind of film.

If I do a wrong film, then people will forget Avan Ivan. Because of this I am careful. Many are asking me about the relationship between Arya and me. I also use to think that why he is so affectionate with me. I doubted that whether he was acting.
I also use to think whether there was any motive. Our friendship was so deep. Now I am acting in the film titled Prabhakaran directed by Prabhu Deva. This film is a remake of the Telugu film Souryam. When we saw the film, we thought that it would be appropriate if Prabhu Deva directed this film. So we joined hands.”

Thala Ajith and his Mankatha team are working overtime to complete the film, which is likely to grace theatres in August. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the film also stars Trisha, Lakshmi Rai, Premji Amaren, Arjun and Vaibhav in prominent roles. Cloud Nine Movies has produced this action thriller which is rumoured to narrate the story of match-fixing sagas in international cricket matches. Arjun will play the role of an investigative officer who takes up the task of exposing the bookies. Thala Ajith will play the role of a gambler; then the cat and mouse game begins.

“Credit should go to Arjun for accepting this role. It shows his large-heartedness. Such combinations will add substance to a good script. I have tremendous respect for Arjun, as a person and as an actor. His role in Mankatha is crucial and filmgoers are sure to enjoy the final outcome,” Ajith was quoted as saying.

And guess what is Mankatha’s byline? “Yellaarum kettavanga, aana ivan romba kettavan.” (every one is bad but he is very bad)!

Simbu’s much-hyped Osthi (remake of Salman Khan’s Bollywood blockbuster Dabangg), directed by Dharani, went on floors in Mysore on Sunday. The film is produced by Mohan Apparao and T. Ramesh under Balaji Real Media banner. For the first time, Simbu will play the role of a cop on screen in Osthi. Richa Gangopadhya will play the role of Rancho (made memorable by Sonakshi Sinha in Hindi). Jithan Ramesh will play the role of Simbu’s brother in the film, which was originally played by Arbaaz Khan. Revathi will appear as Simbu’s mother, while Sonu Sood will reprise his original role in the Tamil version too. Gopinath will handle the camera while Thaman will compose music.

Director Shankar is currently busy with his upcoming comedy entertainer Nanban (remake of the Bollywood blockbuster 3 Idiots). Vijay, Srikanth and Jiiva will play the lead roles, S.J. Suryah will play the role of Chatur (Omi Vaidya), Ileana D’Cruz will appear in the role played by Kareena Kapoor, and Sathyaraj will appear as the insensitive professor Virus, which was played by Boman Irani. The movie will be released in Telugu as 3 Rascals. Harris Jayaraj has already started composing music for the film. Almost 60% of the shoot is already completed. The Nanban team is expected to go abroad shortly to shoot some important song sequences. The latest buzz is that the film will have its grand music launch in July!

After pairing up with Suriya in Singham, actress Anushka is now all set to share screen space with his younger brother Karthi. Reportedly, she has agreed to be Karthi’s heroine in his forthcoming film under the direction of Suraaj, who made Padikathavan and Mappillai.

Karthi is now busy with Saguni, directed by Shankar Dayal, and the proposed untitled film is expected to go to sets after Saguni. Notably, Anushka was the initial choice for Karthi’s Siruthai, but owing to her busy schedule, she did not accept the project.

Lately, there were so many rumours about actress Kajal Aggarwal in connection with her alleged comment that she never considered herself to be a South Indian actress as she is a North Indian by birth. Though she subsequently issued her clarification, explaining that her comment, which appeared in a Mumbai tabloid, was misquoted by the media, the actress still cannot believe all this happened to her!

She said that she has no idea from where all these rumours started and was upset on hearing that South Indian film fraternity wanted to ban her. “I will never be disrespectful to the Telugu and Tamil film industry. I have been brought up to respect my roots. And my roots are in Tollywood and Kollywood. So I’m really hurt and angry that someone has started this whole ‘ban’ issue without as much as bothering to speak to me.”

Kajal flashes fire as she says, “I have not heard from any association nor have I heard from any one of consequence wanting to ban me because I guess everyone responsible and in a position of power knows the real truth. I have had super success in Magadheera, Maaveran, Mr. Perfect and with the grace of God, my career in the South is going upward. Why would I wish to give up something so good?” The actress also maintained that she would do Telugu, Tamil and Hindi films simultaneously and there is no question of choosing one over the other.
